The Call to Intercede for Marriage
A Sacred Institution Under Attack
As we step into 2025, a year I pray will be filled with renewal and restoration. I am here u a deep since of urgency, and hope. I want to talk to you about the call to pray for the holiest and mightiest of institution The Lord created-marriage.
As prayer warriors, you are trusted with an extraordinary gift—the ability to stand in the gap, to lift up those who may be too weary to pray for themselves, and to call down heaven’s power to heal marriages.
Marriage is under attack and has been for years, under attack from media groups, and legal organizations, advocacy groups. Even some government policies seem to work against marriage.
Tax policies.
Welfare programs.
No-fault divorce laws, all working against marriage, and what are we left with, broken homes, fractured families, and hearts weighed down by trial and tribulation.
Marriage is hard pressed on every side, but not crushed, perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed.
Through your prayer marriage is not destroyed. Through your prayer, the Lord takes what was meant for evil against marriage, and turns it into good.
The Song of Solomon says
“I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine”
Wow.
When you pray for marriages, you are praying for two, to become one—your praying for a love nurtured by the hand of God to flourish in beauty and abundance, and to reflect His glory.
A Divine Power to Tear Down Strongholds
The enemy knows the power of marriage, which is why it is under attack. He seeks to kill, steal, and destroy what God has designed for unity, sanctification, and blessing.
Scripture reminds us:
2nd Corinthians says For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds”
I believe the divine power that tears down strongholds is prayer,
We asked and we receive, we seek, we find, we knock and the door is opened
So, let’s use that divine power that tears down the strongholds that destroy marriages, and separates families
Pray for Love to Flourish
The Song of Solomon says
“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death.
Pray for this kind of love to reignite in marriages—a love that won’t stop, that is fiery, and grows in Joy and peace. Pray for hearts to be sealed and for commitments to be strengthened.

Prayer for Marriage Healing and Forgiveness
Lord knows no marriage is perfect, and we all face trials. Yet, God is a God of restoration, transforming darkness into light.
In your prayer for marriage, pray for the healing of wounds, for forgiveness to abound, and for trust to be restored.
The Song of Solomon says
“Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away. For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come”
Pray that the “winter” of struggles would give way to the “spring” of joy and new beginnings.
Pray for Unity and Oneness
God’s design for marriage is clear:
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).
Pray that couples would walk in unity, facing challenges together, making decisions in unity, and always leaning on God as their foundation.
Pray for a Christ-Centered Marriage
A Christ-centered marriage is unshakable. In your prayer for marriage, pray that couples would put God first in their relationship, seeking His wisdom and guidance in prayer for marriage.
Pray that their love would reflect Christ’s love for the Church:
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her” (Ephesians 5:25).
Pray for the Next Generation
Strong marriages create strong families, and strong families raise children who know and love the Lord.
Pray that children would witness the beauty of godly love and carry those lessons into their own future marriages.

Will You Answer the Call
The question is: will you answer this call? Will you pray for the marriages of your friends, families, and even those you’ve never met? You may never see the full impact of your prayers, but trust this: heaven hears you.
When you pray for marriages, you are partnering with God in His redemptive work. You are speaking life into marriages that may feel lifeless, hope into situations that seem hopeless, and love into hearts that may have grown cold. So, declare that what God has joined together, no one—not even the enemy—can tear apart.
When you pray for marriages, you are partnering with God in His plain for the redemption of the human race. Your prayers break the chains of bitterness, heal wounds, and restore love.
And what does the bible say?
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
Through your prayers for marriage, God will work miracles. Keep praying, for the power of your prayers will change lives, marriages, and generations.
The people you pray for may never know your name, but they will know the power of your prayers.
Let us pray boldly, fervently, and without ceasing.
Heaven is listening.
